Chemical Peels

Does your skin appear dull or lack vibrancy? Are you looking to transform your skin and reinvigorate your natural glow?

Chemical peels, which were utilised as far back as ancient Egypt and Greece, revitalise the appearance of your skin through the application of an acid solution that removes the damaged outer layers, helping new skin cells to grow, giving your skin a fresh, rejuvenated look and feel with smoother and more radiant skin.

Skin peels are a popular treatment option for acne and acne scars, restore a more youthful appearance to the skin, reduce wrinkles and help with uneven pigmentation, sun-damage and blotchy patches.

Depending on several factors, such as skin type and reason for undergoing the procedure, SydneyWest Aesthetics can provide two levels of chemical peels:

1. Soft peeling: Through the use of peeling agents such as glycolic and salicylic acids, soft chemical peels provide many benefits while keeping recovery time to a minimum. Even after a single treatment, the skin's complexion looks much more consistent. In addition, pigment irregularities and freckles disappear.  A course of treatments can be spread over several weeks for a more effective change. The results are visible for 6-12 months. This is the most universally compatible peeling treatment and is suitable for patients with darker skin tones.

2. Medium peeling Medium chemical peels use trichloroacetic acid (TCA). It causes a thorough peeling of the upper epithelial cells and a rapid re-epithelialisation after approximately eight days. As a result, deep pigment discolourations, acne scars and minor wrinkles around the eyes and mouth are eliminated, and rough, porous skin becomes significantly smoother. The treatment is effective for up to several years.

Deeper peels will have a longer recovery and aftercare but also will result in a more significant improvement in the skin. As a result of any chemical peeling, the skin is reddened for approximately two weeks. The skin must also be protected from UV rays for two months (SPF 30+).
